Common foot problems

If any of this sounds familiar

These are the problems we see most often. None of them are unusual, and none of them are anything to be embarrassed about.

Athlete's foot

A fungal infection that thrives in warm, damp shoes, causing itching, flaking and soreness — most often between the toes. It clears readily once correctly identified, but it's easily mistaken for dry skin or eczema, which is why getting the diagnosis right matters.

Corns & callus

Hard skin and corns build up wherever pressure or friction is concentrated, usually from footwear or the way you load your foot. Removing them is quick and painless — but lasting relief comes from working out what caused the pressure in the first place.

Fungal & thickened nails

Nails that turn thick, crumbly or discoloured are often fungal, though old injuries and pressure can look very similar. We reduce and tidy the nail on the day, establish the actual cause, and set out treatment options that are realistic about timescales.

Ingrown nails

When a nail edge presses into the surrounding skin the result is pain, swelling and sometimes infection. Many settle with careful conservative treatment; the ones that keep coming back can be corrected permanently with minor nail surgery.

Flat feet

A low or collapsed arch isn't a problem in its own right, but it changes how load travels through the foot, knee and hip — and that can show up as aching later in the day. An assessment tells you whether yours needs support, strengthening, or simply leaving alone.

Morton's neuroma

Thickened nerve tissue between the toes — usually the third and fourth — producing burning, tingling, numbness, or the sensation of standing on a pebble. Footwear changes, padding and offloading often bring significant relief.

Plantar fasciitis

The classic sharp heel pain that is at its worst with your first few steps in the morning, then eases as you move. Treatment combines offloading, stretching and footwear or orthotic advice matched to how you actually walk.

Verrucae

Caused by a virus, verrucae can be stubborn, painful when squeezed from the sides, and slow to shift. We confirm the diagnosis, talk through the treatment options that suit your skin and lifestyle, and cover what to do at home between visits.

Your visit

What to expect

Three straightforward steps, from booking to walking back out again.

1

Before you arrive

You'll be sent a short online form to complete beforehand — consent, medical history, current medication and anything else relevant. It means your appointment time goes on your feet, not on paperwork.

2

Discuss your concerns

We start by talking through what has brought you in and what you'd like sorted. Alongside that we carry out a vascular assessment, and a neurological assessment where it's needed.

3

Your treatment plan

We treat within the appointment wherever possible, then agree what happens next — whether that's regular care or a one-off treatment. You'll leave with clear advice, and where appropriate we can provide a referral letter for your GP.

New patient appointments are up to 40 minutes including treatment. Follow-up appointments are up to 30 minutes.

Practice policies

Policies & compliance

Everything you'd reasonably want to know before you book, in one place.

Cancellations & missed appointments

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. That gives the slot to someone else who needs it.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged at the full appointment fee. We understand that life happens — if something genuinely unavoidable comes up, please just tell us.

Running late

If you arrive late we'll always try to treat you, but the appointment may need to be shortened so the following patient isn't delayed. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may mean the appointment has to be rebooked and charged as a missed appointment.

Payment

Payment is taken at the end of your appointment by card, contactless or online. Any treatment plan and its cost are confirmed with you before we go ahead.

Feeling unwell?

If you have sickness, diarrhoea, a fever or an active contagious infection, please contact us to rearrange rather than attending. Rescheduling for this reason is never charged.
